ASHER HOUSE - LANDSCAPE

Guymer Bailey Landscape in collaboration with Archipelago were engaged by the Wesley Mission to create a low-maintenance, sense-provoking garden for the Asher House high-care facility located in Wynnum West.

With residents requiring 24-hour care due to acquired brain injuries, the main objective of the landscape design was to provide a visually appealing and green outlook that attracted local wildlife like birds, butterflies, insects, and lizards to stimulate the residents’ senses. This was achieved through the careful selection of plant species to ensure 90% of planting consisted native species.

Sensory experience was also supported by vine-laden trellises and tree placement so that residents, who are bed-bound with either no or low mobility, can see the visually stimulating green environment. The outdoor landscape also encompasses small private courtyards and a large covered communal terrace for residents, visitors and staff to enjoy.
